Late Summer requests, 2008
Thank you for your interest in praying for Spain!
Looking back
Azuqueca Easter Outreach
We particularly request prayer for the outreach being held at Azuqueca de Henares, east of Madrid. Teams will come together from around Spain and Britain to share the Gospel on the streets and in public halls through a variety of different methods. More from the Easter Outreach page.
Summer outreaches
There have been many activities this summer. Many of the events are closely linked to the Agua Viva evangelical pavilion and concurrent city-wise outreach in Zaragoza, taking place in and during the World Expo on water and susteainable development. For more information on these activities, we refer you to the September news page (cf. News from the Churches). A photo report is also available:
Upcoming events
As the summer comes to an end, most churches turn to focus on local activities, follow-up of contacts made during the summer and integrating them into church life. However, there continue regular outreaches in many cities. In particular, the Kilómetro Zero outreach at 8 p.m. every day in La Puerta del Sol, central Madrid, continues to attract crowds to hear the gospel.
Autumn is also conference time. This autumn two events stand out:
Pentecostal Europe Convention
This will take place on 24th and 25th October. Prayer days have been held monthly to prepare for this. Keynote speakers include David Wilkerson.
Spanish Evangelists' Conference
This takes place from 5th to 8th December at El Escorial, Madrid. It will gather leading evangelists and church planters from across Spain and the denominations to assess progress and challenge each other to complete the work. The 7th conference's title is 'Win or Lose!'
Other events
Regional Brethren ministry Day
The Brethren in Galicia have a day together on 25th October. They will meet in the capital, Santiago, for plenary sessions, a round table and a choice of 17 seminars.
56th Baptist Convention
This is also on the weekend of 23rd to 26th October.
Other events include Family Life marriage seminars, Youth gatherings, Volunteer training courses, etc..
The web
For those of you who are regular visitors to PrayforSpain, we appreciate any feedback on the usefulness of the very varies information which is included on the web, together with comments of any improvements which you would like to see.
During the autumn we would like to make some changes to the web such that it reflects better your interests and our ability to keep you better informed as you pray for Spain. In particular, we are considering a new Churches' news page on the home menu, which would include the calendar of events and other more immediate prayer requests which get missed as the projects and prayer section is not updated so regularly. What do you think?
N.B. It may be that the partial renewal of this web is postponed to allow us to move over to a new CMS (data entry system), which will 'enhance your experience' and enable new developments in the future.
Blogs We hope that over the coming months we will also be able to involve a few more English-speaking people from around Spain who would like to contribute a blog to the site. This would involve a new section which uses different software which will make the blogs easier to find, write and read. If you are somewhere around Spain and fancy joining, do let us know.
If you would like to comment, please use the email form at the bottom of this page. Thank you!
Many thanks again for your commitment to pray for Spain. We would love to hear from you, so please if you are praying regularly for Spain let us know by sending us an email. If you have any queries or contributions, don't hesitate to get in touch!
