Zaragoza

The city of over 700,000 was founded by the Romans and is dominated by a cathedral marking the supposed spot where 'the virgin' met James, brother of John on his return from evangelising Spain before returning to Judea to be executed by Herod!

Zaragoza has been swiftly modernised over the past decade, particularly taking advantage of the Expo to build new bridges over and parks beside the river Ebro. earlier this year the high speed rail link from Madrid (open to Zaragoza already several years) was finally completed at Barcelona. Madrid and Barcelona are just over an hour away by train, with former Expo city Seville another 2 1/2 hours beyond Madrid.

The Agua Viva Pavilion

The Expo is open from 14th June to 14th September and the regional Churches' Council has taken up the challenge to be involved. Some 6 million are expected to the Expo and after 2 months some 185,000 had visited Agua Viva, of whom 136,000 had seen the evangelistic audio-visual. We helped 'entertain' visitors waiting to see the video with a rope trick and to distribute gifts -and talk to visitors- on departure.

Photos taken by Chris and Hilde on the Panasonic Lumix compact or the new Pentax K100. Touched up with The Gimp.
Our Video made on the Mac Mini using iPhoto, converted into Quicktime - sorry, not the most compact format and still it hasn't got all the flashy tweaks (which it makes automatically!) of my desktop version.
