News to March 06More NewsA few more news items and where to find more news about Spain:Water reserves:[Image 48???]In a year of drought, water reserves are important. At 14th February the reservoirs were back above 48% of capacity, but filling more slowly than average for the time of year. While the Basque Country is at its limits, in the south east the situation is still especially critical. The Tajo basin has some big hydro-electric schemes, which mostly had to be turned off due to lack of flow over the summer, available reserves being fed to towns and agriculture. Now the lower Tajo reservoirs are back to above 60%, but the upper Tajo, Spain's most important reserve is still badly hit at 11%, as are other regions in the South and East. Water is also flowing well in the Basque Country, but the highest falls were on the coast and could not be retained for future use. Old News archivePast news is not all forgotten by P4S!
